Verizon wants this service to act as a 'convenience', or in other words, a vehicle for microtransactions like downloading ringtones and wallpapers for your phone. When people actually utilize it, they crack down. In some areas, it may be possible to get free access via other means, but in doing so you would probably break about 4 other EULAs and activate their orbital deathray platforms. *sigh* I’m not very suprised.
