MSFT Goes for Sleeper Hold, Then Scales Back on Vista EULA

What of Microsoft and the Vista EULA madness?

Last week, Microsoft revised the Vista EULA amid complaints of vague language, straitjacketing and what some have called blatant demands for outright worship of MSFT idolatry.

Microsoft’s all-out approach to the Vista EULA — seemingly testing to see what they can get away with — and later considering (only to largely disregard) public opinion and legal/ethical points, shows they still think they’re some kind of monopoly. Needless to say, there’s no bottom to their cashpile set aside to back up these ambitions (see the recent pact w/ Novell to ensure Linux server love).

Mary Jo Foley blogs that the long overdue OS formerly known as Longhorn will finally “go gold” (officially released to manufacturing) today. While it appears the Vista’s development and evolution will never be technically be “done,” is it safe to say that it’s ready for prime time?
