The No Bones About it Approach
Duke from Yahoo! Toolbar commented amusedly last night after finding that a poster (adm) actually READ the EULA for the toolbar and pointed out the extraneously ridiculous language within it.
Ted Syp took another approach to the “nobody-reads-these-anyway” dillema:
Product: Ring Audio Service (many years ago)
Lowpoints: We had a service form printed up. There were ususally various provisoes and excuses at the bottom.
We thought we’d go one simpler and just had printed: “We are not responsible.”
Highpoints: It amused us at the shop. A few careful individuals noticed it, but no one went further than to laugh at it. We lost no business, had our fun, and nobody got sued.
Readers: please comment and feel free to contribute your own tale of EULA/waiver/consent astonishment via email or this form.
